Doon International Public School, Shyampur, Rishikesh successfully organised its 19th Annual Sports Meet 2025 for the academic session 2025–26 for the Senior Wing (grades IX to XII) with great enthusiasm, discipline, and zeal. The event aimed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, leadership qualities, and the spirit of healthy competition among students.
The Senior Annual Sports Meet was held on 6 December 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at the school cricket ground. The occasion was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Guest, Mr. Sanjay Kuqsal, Campus Director, along with the Principal, Dr. Tanuja Sharma Pokhriyal, and other respected dignitaries.
The programme commenced with the formal escort of the Chief Guest to the dais by the school band, accompanied by the Head Girl, Aditi Binjola, and the Head Boy, Ganesh Uniyal. Special honour was accorded to the March Past instructors, Retired Honorary Naib Subedar Mr. Ramchandra (Para Special Forces) and Retired Havildar Mr. Omprakash Anthwal (19th Assam Rifles), who were respectfully escorted to the stage.
The Principal, Dr. Tanuja Pokhriyal, welcomed the Chief Guest by presenting a planter, while the School Coordinator, Mr. Triloki Nath Bhardwaj, welcomed the other dignitaries in a similar manner. This was followed by a melodious rendition of the School Song by the school choir. The Sports Captain, Priyanka Taryial, then delivered a speech, after which the Principal addressed the gathering and motivated the students by highlighting the importance of sports in life.
One of the major highlights of the event was the Torch Lighting Ceremony, during which the torch was lit by the Chief Guest and handed over to the Sports Captains, Anuj and Priyanka Taryial. The captains took a ceremonial lap around the track and placed the torch on the stand, symbolising energy, unity, and sportsmanship
An impressive March Past was presented by the four houses—Agni, Akash, Pawan, and Prithvi to the rhythmic beats of the school band. This was followed by the Oath Taking Ceremony, led by Sports Captain Anuj, wherein the participants pledged to uphold the values of honesty, discipline, and true sportsmanship.
The cultural and fitness segment included a Mass PT Drill by students of Grades III to VII, a Saree Drill by students of Grades VI to VIII, a Yoga Demonstration by students of Grades III to X, and a Taekwondo Demonstration by students of Grades IV to X, all of which were highly appreciated by the audience.
A special fitness and martial arts demonstration was presented by the Physical Education Department, led by Mr. Ravi Thakur, along with Mr. B. P. Khanduri, and coordinated by Mr. Mukesh Joshi and Mr. Triloki Nath Bhardwaj. The demonstration showcased remarkable strength and discipline through tile-breaking performances.
The Chief Guest officially declared the 19th Annual Sports Meet of DIPS open, following which the competitive events commenced with the 100-metre Girls’ Race. The events included 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, and 800 m races, along with relay races for both boys and girls. The athletes participated with great enthusiasm, determination, and sportsmanlike spirit.
At the conclusion of the track events, the Prize Distribution Ceremony was held. The Chief Guest, Principal, and Pre-Primary Coordinator awarded medals and certificates to the winners.
- Junior Girls’ Best Athlete Trophy was awarded Ridhima Rana, Grade VIII-B, Akash House.
- Junior Boys’ Best Athlete Trophy was awarded Vansh Singh Rawat, Grade VIII-A, Akash House.
- Senior Girls’ Best Athlete Trophy was awarded Shalini Panwar, Grade XI-B2, Akash House.
- Senior Boys’ Best Athlete Trophy was awarded Pritam, Grade XII-C, Pawan House
Continuing its tradition of excellence, Agni House once again secured the Best March Past Trophy.
Based on the overall performance throughout the year, the Overall Trophy was awarded to Akash House. During the prize distribution ceremony, the Campus Director addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of discipline and sports in students’ lives.
A beautiful painting created by Krishna Rawat, Grade X, was presented to the Chief Guest by the Principal. The March Past instructors were also honoured with mementos by the Chief Guest.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by the Head of the Sports Department, Mrs. Jyoti Kalura, who expressed gratitude to all those who worked tirelessly and acknowledged the contribution of each and every person who made the event a success.
The event concluded on a high note with the Chief Guest formally declaring the meet closed, followed by the National Anthem.
The day witnessed high levels of enthusiasm, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship, making the 19th Annual Sports Meet 2025–26 a grand success.
